In this post, you’ll discover how to design your first life coaching package so you can start hitting those consistent 5K months and beyond.

You’ll learn how to pick the right problem to solve, structure your sessions, and confidently price your program using a simple formula. We’ll also look at ways to boost the value of your offer with bonuses and outline exactly what to say when you promote it.

Let’s design your coaching package👇🏼

Step 1: Know your client's problem

I often hear that a lot of life coaches are like, "I just want to help everyone." I am guilty, I used to say that as well.

But remember, your coaching isn't meant for everyone. Not everyone would find value in working with a life coach. So we don't want to focus on trying to help everybody. Because when you try to help everyone, you help no one.

And remember, we're not actually offering life coaching sessions here. That's kind of boring and it's not really something that people are going to get really excited to pay for.

You're actually helping to solve an unsolved mystery or problem in someone's life through your life coaching.

So you want to start to think about these types of questions:

  • > What problem is your coaching offer helping to solve?

  • > What are the daily struggles and the ultimate goals that your ideal client is trying to achieve?

Then you're going to design your coaching package to help them meet that.

If you don't know your niche yet, that's okay. When most of my students enter the Born to Coach Training Academy to train to become professional coaches, they don't know their niche yet.

I always say the best thing to do is just to get out there and start coaching anyone and everyone who will let you coach them. The more action that you take, you'll start to notice who you're attracting, the types of topics that really light you up.

In the meantime, you can always start out with your past self as your own best ideal client. Think about what would the past version of yourself have bought a course or a program to help with. What has your future self already been able to achieve?

A lot of times we are actually trying to solve the wrong type of problem for our client with our coaching.

If your ideal client is a burnt out corporate leader and really all they want to do is move to Italy full-time, then you don't want to name your package and focus on "Self-Care 101."

I hear a lot of coaches are like, "Well, I want to teach people about self-love and self-care." But that could be the wrong type of problem that you're helping to solve, even though most likely you will be addressing self-love and self-care in your coaching package.

A better option of what we could call this package is The Passport to Your Dream Life: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Transitioning from Boardrooms to Plazas

Doesn't that sound so much more enticing?

Step 2: Craft an Irresistible Offer

Time to create an offer so good your audience would feel silly saying passing it up.

Name your offer after the title you came up with in step 1.

“Soulmate Roadmap: Attracting Love Without Settling.”

Add some type of tagline or description.

“Stop swiping aimlessly and start aligning. Soulmate Roadmap is a one-to-one life coaching program designed for women who are done playing small in love and ready to attract a partnership that lights them up without losing themselves in the process.”

As you can see, this is not designed for just anyone out there, but it's specifically designed for women who are ready to attract love.

I know it can be really scary to niche down. We're afraid we're going to leave someone out or lose business.

But the more that you can get really clear on who it is that you want to help, and again, that problem you're helping to solve, it's actually going to make you stand out more, get more referrals, get hired more, and ultimately make more money at the end of the day.

Step 3: Structure Your Coaching Package

Next, you want to start to structure your coaching offer.

Most coaches will offer 60-minute one-to-one coaching sessions anywhere from one to four times a month.

Coaches will often also offer support in between coaching sessions. I've had feedback from my clients in the past that said they really love to have that support in between sessions.

If you want to, you can come up with a simple program outline. You don't have to, but again, clients really like to buy a roadmap to something and know that they're going to be learning something in addition to the coaching. You can totally combine both.

The ICF says that 94% of coaches offer additional things besides just coaching in their packages.

If you're like me, love to teach and love to create content, feel free to bring that into your program to offer that with your coaching. It makes it much more valuable and easier to sell.

Step 4: Add Bonuses to Increase Value

Bonuses can definitely sweeten up the deal as well.

Here are some different ideas for bonuses to include in your coaching package:

  • > A VIP day with you

  • > A virtual or in-person lunch or dinner

  • > A digital course or a workshop

  • > A gift box like a self-care gift box with crystals, essential oils, candles (I've done that for clients before)

  • > A strategy session

  • > A PDF of resources

  • > Extra coaching sessions

You can also put together customized meditations and playlists. You can partner with a complimentary business owner as a way to collaborate with them and help them get business. It's also going to get your clients better results as well.

For example, the students in the Born to Coach Training Academy get a birth chart reading with my astrology coach. This helps them create the blueprint for success for their coaching business, and I also get to support my astrology coach as well.

If you're like me, if you have additional skill sets like Reiki or hypnotherapy, you can offer energy healing sessions as well.

Step 5: Price Your Package

Next, we've got to price our offer. If you guys are like me, you probably don't like math, but this is a really simple equation. We want to work backward.

PACKAGE PRICE = MONTHLY INCOME GOAL / AVG. NUMBER OF CLIENTS I WANT TO WORK WITH EACH MONTH

That will tell you what to price per client.

Let's say that the average number of clients that you could work with would be five clients per month. So $5,000 divided by five. That means each of your clients needs to be paying you $1,000 per month.

You can do different payment options, but you don't want too many of them. That can get overwhelming and confusing for clients.

Sometimes people can't afford to pay in full, so you can offer a monthly payment plan for the length of the program. That would be three payments of $1,100, so they'd pay a little bit more for that payment plan.

Step 6: Put It Out and Start Promoting

Once you have the name, you have the description, you have the structure of what's included, then the program outline, and a pricing, it’s time to create an Instagram or Facebook post, or a simple sales page on your website with that all information.

Don’t forget to finish with a call to action telling people exactly how to get started, e.g., book a call, fill out a form, or message you.

You’re ready to start promoting and selling your coaching package.
