Why Breakthroughs Take Time (and What My Students Keep Teaching Me)
There’s this moment I always come back to.
It’s not during a coaching session. It’s not even during a sales call or a graduation celebration. It’s usually years later, out of the blue, when I reconnect with a former student or client—and they tell me something they just realized.
And it’s always something they actually learned or heard from me ages ago.
That’s the magic of coaching. The long game. The unfolding. The breakthroughs that don’t come on our timeline—but still arrive right on time.
In this week’s podcast, I sat down with one of my incredible graduates, Sydney, to talk about this exact phenomenon. She’s someone I deeply admire—not just for how she coaches, but for how she holds space for people to bring their fears, doubts, and “I’m not ready yet” energy to the table. And she meets it all with curiosity, not shame.
She shared how she structures her coaching packages, how she supports clients through their decision-making process, and what she’s learned about trusting that clients transform in their own time.
Here’s what I loved most about our conversation:
Sydney reminded me that we don’t have to see the results right away to know the work is working.
Sometimes, the biggest shifts happen off the radar. Sometimes, the seeds we plant during a six-month container don’t sprout until years later. And that’s okay. That’s part of the path.
I’ve had grads circle back and tell me, “I finally launched that business,” or “I got hired as a full-time coach,” or “I just realized something you said two years ago completely changed how I see myself.” I live for those moments—not because I need the credit, but because it reaffirms something I know to be true:
🌱 The work matters. Even when it’s quiet.
So if you’re in that “Where are my results?!” phase—whether you're building your coaching biz or just navigating a new season of growth—breathe. It’s working. You’re doing it. Trust your timing. Trust your clients’. Trust the process.
And keep going. You never know what’s taking root.
